Data we process

MarginMind processes Shopify store data needed to calculate contribution profit and surface margin opportunities. This includes orders, line items, refunds, discounts, products, variants, inventory levels, locations, and discount configurations. With your consent through Shopify's permission screen, we may also read customer records to build aggregated economic segments.

We use pseudonymous Shopify customer identifiers and purchase economics for segmentation. We do not store customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, or mailing addresses in our database.

Data we store

We store Shopify authentication sessions, merchant settings, cost assumptions you enter, sync status, monthly usage counters, webhook receipt identifiers, derived economic snapshots, product economics, opportunities, recommendation states, and audit metadata tied to your shop. Order and product payloads are used to compute these results; we retain derived economics and configuration for as long as the app is installed unless deleted through uninstall or shop redaction.

How calculations work

Contribution profit, waterfalls, opportunities, and What-If scenarios are computed inside the app from your Shopify data and your cost assumptions. Core economics do not rely on sending your catalog or order history to third-party inference services.

Deletion and privacy requests

Shop-scoped data is deleted when the app is uninstalled and when Shopify sends a shop-redaction request. We verify Shopify webhook signatures and respond to mandatory customer data request and customer redaction webhooks. We do not maintain a separate customer profile database; customer requests are answered from shop-level stored data and our processing practices described above.

Security

We use Shopify OAuth, scoped Admin API access, HTTPS, and HMAC-verified webhooks. Merchants control cost assumptions and whether to accept or reject recommendations; the app does not change product prices or discounts without an explicit merchant action in Admin or Shopify.
